Description
ROLE
The Financial Analyst acts as a resource to the Manager, Finance and Registration in supervising the quality, effectiveness and accuracy of the workflow process and outputs within the Finance team. The incumbent is expected to act as an expert resource to Managers and the Finance Team to help bridge and manage financial reporting and planning. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a demanding role while balancing their own workload and engaging with other MAHC professionals on a timely and appropriate basis to serve the needs of our internal and external stakeholders. This position requires an ability to work unsupervised while keeping the Manager, Finance and Registration aware of your efforts, informed of the issues and opportunities, and engaged in the development of solutions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTICIATION(S)
- Post-secondary diploma in accounting and/or finance, from an accredited college
- Baccalaureate degree in accounting or finance preferred
- CPA Designation (CGA, CMA, CA)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years in depth financial reporting and variance analysis experience, emphasis on government / not for profit environments
- Strong general accounting background
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting manager portfolios and senior management relating to variance analysis and mitigation strategies
- Excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of acceptable account standards
- Ability to produce accurate, relevant and actionable information / analysis for the organization
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure/stressful conditions; ability to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to deal directly with executive staff, managers and other staff on an ongoing basis exhibiting both financial and professional communication skills
- Solid confidence in skills and abilities to assess processes and derive solutions to enable further efficiency and integrity in the financial processes
- Ability to accept additional responsibility as needed

Hours of Work: Monday-Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements.
