Description
ROLE
Working at Muskoka Algonquin Health Care in the role of General Maintenance/Trade Specialty, you will,
- Perform General Maintenance / Trade Specialty duties.
- Share in on-call rotation.
- Responsible for repairs to hospital plumbing and mechanical systems in accordance with diagrams, operations manuals and manufacturers specifications.
- Maintain preventative maintenance scheduled on critical mechanical systems such as chillers, boilers and fan systems.
- Assist other trades with maintenance activities associated with electrical, mechanical and all related aspects of hospital maintenance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Ontario Licenced Trades person in a trade as an Electrician, Plumber, Refrigeration and HVAC, etc. Other Ontario Trade Licences may be considered.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 5 years recent demonstrated experience in Construction and Maintenance in an industrial / hospital setting (hospital experience is preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of air handling systems, boilers, generators, compressors, is an asset.
- Must complete workload assignments with a high degree of attention to detail and thoroughness throughout areas of assignment.
- Must be able to prioritize a variety of work assignments, tasks, and duties
- Must be a team player
- Show an eagerness and capacity to adapt to change
- Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work and complete workload assignments with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to effectively coordinate construction or internal maintenance projects.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position which include lifting, standing, walking and the operation of various equipment.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- High degree of computer literacy. (e.g., MS Office and email, computerized maintenance systems, using portable devices, and performing internet technical research)
- Experience with automation or networked systems (nurse call, parking)
- Familiar with BAS (Building Automation System).

Union: SEIU
Compensation: $30.77 an hour
Location: This position provides shared services between both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.
Position Available: Temporary Full Time
Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.
As a condition of employment, external hires are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.
